Malaga is a very easily accessible tourist destination: it’s well served by plane, train, bus and more. There are many options to choose from, depending on how far you want to travel, how much time you have, which mode of transport in Malaga you prefer…
Bike, segway, scooter, car, cab, bus, train…. We’ll explain everything you need to know about getting around Malaga, so you can choose the mode of transport that best suits your budget or ecological criteria.
Getting around Malaga on foot
Malaga is the perfect city for walkers. For one thing, the city center is semi-pedestrianized, with only cabs, deliverymen and emergency services accessing it by car.
What’s more, all the places of interest in the historic center are within walking distance. Museums, cultural centers, restaurants, nightclubs, hotels, accommodation, bars, etc., as well as beaches such as the unmissable Malagueta.
How to get around by bike/segway/electric scooter
Malaga is well equipped with cycle paths, and the city center is partially accessible by bike, segway and scooter.
These are a pleasant way to get around and go a little further than on foot. You’ll find plenty of bike rentals (the electric option is useful if you want to explore Malaga’s heights), scooters and segways.
Group tours are also sometimes offered by rental companies.
Getting around Malaga by cab
Cabs in Malaga are white with a blue diagonal stripe and have a green light displaying the numbers 1-2-3 on their roof. The green light or “free” sign under the windscreen on the passenger’s side indicates availability. Pricing is based on a meter (ask the driver to run it if he doesn’t start it), and ranges from €5 to €10 for a city trip.
However, even if this solution is convenient, all the main attractions are fairly close by and it’s possible to get around Málaga on foot (if you don’t have any physical contraindications).
